One of the key outcomes has been the decision to proceed with a Work Value Case, following recommendations from the independent research we commissioned from Griffith University (GU).
The GU report says the time is now right to begin this case because the new State Government is restoring the independence of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC).
The Newman Government shackled the QIRC to its will. An independent QIRC would be able to judge our arguments on merit and award whatever pay increase they deemed appropriate based on evidence – not LNP policy.
State Council endorsed the commencement of a Work Value Case as United Voice Secretary Gary Bullock committed whatever resources were necessary – about $300,000 – to run a quality case.
