United Voice State Councillor for Darling Downs, Casey James, recently reported some troubling activities affecting ambulance officers in her region. It was reported that a LASN was making officers do Mandatory’s on TOIL. United Voice raised the issue at the monthly QAS and United Voice State Consultative Committee where it was made clear that such a practice sits outside the Award/Determination. The issue was immediately bought to the LASN’s attention and it has been reiterated to them that officers are to be offered the choice of OT or TOIL for Mandatory’s but that TOIL can only be applied if the officer agrees.
Well done to Casey for bringing this issue to light and for working with United Voice to ensure swift action was taken.
