The final report and recommendations produced by the Paramedic Safety Taskforce was yesterday publically supported by the Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Cameron Dick. Paramedic and United Voice delegate Liesel Cahalan from Metro South represented the Union and did a fantastic job facing the media pack. See her in action here: http://tenplay.com.au/news/brisbane/2016/4/28/paramedics-granted-new-power.
All 15 recommendations have been supported by the Minister; the full report can be viewed online here: https://ambulance.qld.gov.au/docs/QAS-Paramedic-Safety-Taskforce-Final-Report.pdf. The report and its recommendations are a fantastic first step, United Voice is certainly proud that our calls for the implementation of this Taskforce were addressed so quickly and that outcomes could be reached in a timely fashion. However, ensuring all the recommendations are implemented swiftly and that continued collaboration between United Voice and QAS takes place is vital so that future issues can be adequately tackled.
