The Health Practitioner Regulation National Law and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2017 is progressing through state parliament.
The bill includes provisions dealing with paramedic registration. As the industrial advocate for paramedics, United Voice was requested to appear before the parliamentary committee to speak to our written submission and to answer questions.
United Voice was represented by Senior Clinical Educator and Delegate Nick Lentakis and Union Industrial Officer Dermot Peverill, both of whom attended the parliamentary hearing on July 17th. Nick Lentakis is also a member of the registration steering committee.
United Voice highlighted, and answered questions about, issues such as, consultation with our members about the bill, the importance of a transparent registration board, the protected title and profession, and the critical need to ensure that highly experienced paramedics are protected.
