Last week the State Government released its budget outlining its heath spending’s for 2016/2017. $673.1million was allocated to the Queensland Ambulance Service, an increase of 6.3%. This includes funding for the recruitment of an extra 110 ambulance officers and the commission of a number of new and replacement ambulances.
It’s a welcome first step but is still a far cry from the 600 extra ambulance officers we’ve been calling for. In order to ensure your safety and that of your patient’s adequate resources need to be put in place, these resources require funding. United Voice will continue to put pressure on the State Government to increase funding for the recruitment of more ambulance officers.
