Minister announces boost in ambulance officer numbers

This week the Health and Ambulance Services Minister Cameron Dick announced funding that will see an extra 40 paramedics in place across Queensland in a bid to curb the increased pressure on health professionals during the winter season. This announcement is certainly welcome, however it falls well short of the 600 new positions United Voice is demanding as part of the CodeOne campaign which would actually help reduce the increasing burden on ambulance officers. We’ve made it clear to the Minister that while this is a step in the right direction far more needs to be done to ensure ambulance officers have the capacity to reach and treat all Queenslanders in need.
