Independent Queensland Senator Glenn Lazarus visited two Queensland Ambulance stations – Cairns and Rockhampton – in the past week.
The Abbott Government’s attacks on penalty rates were one of the key issues for discussion with Ambulance Officers. Local issues and general pay were also discussed.
Senator Lazarus toured the station, spoke with delegates, Communications Officers and Paramedics (PTOs were off duty). Senator Lazarus’s vote in the Senate could be crucial if the Abbott Government attempts to abolish weekend and penalty rates.
