Last year United Voice raised serious concerns about the potential restrictions on QAS flight paramedics’ access to damages when working with private helicopter providers.
Thanks to pressure from your union this issue was investigated extensively and as a result QAS has recently purchased Group Personal Accident Insurance with Marsh Advantage Insurance which covers all QAS employees up to 65 years of age on operational flights.
The policy provides capital benefits of up to $3 Million for QAS employees with the amount of benefits payable dependent on the severity of the injury sustained.
This insurance is additional to any benefits which may be available to staff under various legislation, such as workers’ compensation benefits.
This is a huge win for Flight Paramedics, well done to all United Voice members who worked hard to achieve this important outcome.
